91制片厂 Creates $3,000 Scholarship for Eastern Gateway Community College Transfer Students
Scholarship launched in the wake of Eastern Gateway鈥檚 impending closure
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH聽鈥 March 21, 2024鈥斅Western Governors University (WGU) announced today a $3,000 scholarship for individuals affected by Eastern Gateway Community College鈥檚 impending closure.
The recent developments at Eastern Gateway (EGCC) are estimated to impact roughly 9,000 of the community college鈥檚 online students nationwide, in addition to nearly 1,000 enrolled locally on EGCC鈥檚 Steubenville, Ohio and Youngstown, Ohio campuses. All EGCC students, graduates, and non-graduates who choose to continue their education at WGU are eligible to apply for the scholarship. EGCC students can learn more information about the scholarship at www.wgu.edu/egcc.
鈥淒ue to circumstances out of their control, Eastern Gateway Community College students must now seek alternative options to continue their pursuit of higher education,鈥 said Alison Bell, WGU Regional Vice President. 鈥淏reaking down barriers and eliminating obstacles that stand between individuals and their dreams of earning a college degree has been WGU鈥檚 mission for more than 25 years. In that same spirit, we are focused on making this a seamless transition for Eastern Gateway students who choose to continue their education at WGU. I am proud of our university for stepping in and creating a pathway to degree completion for these students during this very difficult time.鈥
91制片厂 is a fully online, accredited, competency-based university that offers more than 60 degrees in business, I.T., education and nursing. Prior to the announcement of EGCC鈥檚 impending closure, WGU and EGCC had a standing partnership since 2016. Through that partnership, nearly 1,000 EGCC students have transferred directly to WGU. Those who transfer to WGU from EGCC due to the closure can apply for the $3,000 scholarship during their enrollment process.
