Financial Options During Hardship
91ÖÆƬ³§ is committed to supporting our students during times of unexpected financial challenge. Whatever you are facing, we are committed to helping you continue to pursue your education and reach your career goals. The resources listed below are intended to support students when their ability to pay for tuition and educational expenses have been impacted.
Potential Financial Aid Options
If you have experienced extenuating financial circumstances since you completed your most recent FAFSA, your financial aid request may be adjusted for special circumstances. If you haven’t already, email us and provide a brief summary of how your financial situation has changed since you completed your current aid year FAFSA.
The Financial Aid team will then determine if your circumstances would warrant a professional judgment that may improve your eligibility parameters for additional federal grants or loans. They will provide instructions and documentation requirements for a professional judgment if you're eligible for one.Ìý
Scholarships
If you are concerned about your current tuition balance or anticipate a balance you may not be able to pay in a future term, we encourage you to apply for hardship funds available to current students through the Scholarship Universe platform. You may also explore scholarship opportunities external to WGU through the same site.
At this time, WGU scholarship funding is prioritized for students who have completed at least one term and are using all available resources to pay for tuition, including federal and state grants, student loans, and employer-sponsored tuition assistance.
Additional Support
For personal hardship outside of school related expenses, please email emergencystudentaid@wgu.edu for instructions on how to apply.
